| 2009 New Games, New Talent & A New Show |
|
'Wow' what a year, 2009 was the year of new games and although still no new long jump record we did see a record number of dogs in our pools when at Paws In The Park in September we had nearly 1000 dogs get wet in one of our 4 pools.
The doggie paddle pool raised £400 for dog charities, this pool is for all our non swimmers that just like to play and paddle, with 1 minute to collect as many toys as they can to win a prize, a popular addition to the Aqua Zone. 'Splash N Grab' another new game designed for those fast swimmers, where the fastest 8 dogs will get the chance to race in our knock out final. Picture this 2 pools side by side, 2 tennis balls and 2 water crazy pooches. On "GO" the handlers release the dogs the dogs either jump or use the ramp in to their pool swim to the end, retrieve the ball and return to the handle, the handler standing behind the blue line must get their wet dog to bring the ball out of the water and over the line where they then take the ball and hold it up in the air before the other team, easier said than done with these water obsessed dogs!!! This new exciting game really got the crowds cheering and the kids wet. 'Dash N Splash' is getting so competetive and our 'New Paws In The Park' show down at Romsey house in June we found some new talent and we saw the biggest battle of the year between Dash and Sam, both dogs jumped the same distance in the finals on both days and it was down to a 'Splash Off' between the two dogs, Dash winning on the Saturday by 6", but a shock on Sunday as Dash had a slip and stumbled in at 15ft leaving Sam to jump 25'6" and on to the winners podium. The weekend topped of with Kate's 30th birthday party where many competitors stay to celebrate with Kate and the show team. The last show for 2009 'Paws In The Park' Kent, now by far the largest outdoor dog show in the UK, packed in 15,000 visitors and 6,000 dogs a new record. The Aqua Zone was packed and some crazy people waited nearly 2 hours to get their dogs wet. So 2010 we need more staff, more pools and more training days. HELP.... Dash N Splash is growing fast and is still looking for more doggie talent, so why not check out our 2010 diary and bring your water dogs to one of our training days and you too could be taking home the famous 'Frog Trophy'. |
